But it’s good news will all three available for this week’s match with Easts Tigers at Langlands Park in Brisbane on Saturday after the incidents were reviewed by the QRL match committee.
Captain Clint Broomham’s charge of a high tackle was dropped, Marijan Harris did not have a case to answer on a high tackle and Shane Anderson took an early guilty plea on a dangerous throw which sees him still available as it is a first offence and under the points threshold.
“We were pretty confident of the players being available after we looked at the video,” advised outgoing CEO Geoff Stevens. “We were confident with Clint & Marijan but Shane’s was borderline so we decided that an early plea would be the best course of action.”
And the Falcons will need to be at full strength to take on the Easts Tigers this weekend at Langlands Park Brisbane. Another loss to the Falcons could see them lose pace with the front runners at this early stage.
“There is a long time to go in the season and there will be many twists and turns yet,” added A Grade coach Des Allen. “I’ll be looking for a much more consistent effort from our guys this week and an improvement on sustaining some pressure on the opposition, particularly in their half.”
In the Colts game it will see the debut of promising back Trent Prygoda from the Under 17 Sunshine Coast Development Squad. As the abundance of Sunshine Coast Rugby League talent comes to the fore they will be given the opportunity to play at a higher level through the Falcons and expose them to potential NRL clubs at the same time.
“Trent comes with some real big wraps and it is great that he has chosen to help us out as we battle with injuries already at such an early stage in the season. We’ll be looking after him but I can assure you that he is up to grade and this is what the Falcons are all about – opportunity for the coast’s kids.”
The teams travel to Brisbane this Saturday to take on Easts Tigers at Langlands Park. The Colts will kick off at 11.45 am before the A Grade who take the field at 1.15pm in FOGS Cup action.
